COURSE DESCRIPTION: Join Award-winning costume designer KRISTIN KNIPP and the always creative & crafty KAREN CLAYTON in this fun, interactive theater design class for elementary and middle school students. Students will learn about the roles costume, prop and makeup designers play in creating an imaginary world and how they support the director's vision in a musical. After picking their show, students will research, attend a production meeting and design their own costume plots and storyboards! Learning basic makeup design techniques, each student will receive their own Ben Nye Stage Makeup Kit to practice at home and use for future productions. The class will culminate in a "wax museum" display of their creations for families to enjoy (virtually or in-person, depending on Houston's progress with Covid-19 positivity rates).
Add-On Option: COSTUME PRODUCTION CREW
Additional Tuition: $115
This team of students will assist Kristin Knipp, HITS Costumer, with all the costuming for A Year With Frog and Toad KIDS and will run costume crew for all the Frog and Toad performances.
